TOYO M55 ALL-TERRAIN   LT265/75R16 123M

August, 2004.

M55

"As you are aware we had tremendous success whilst running our 4WD training and tour business using the Toyo M55's in the 235/85R16 and we have been eagerly awaiting the release of a tyre sized to suit our [Nissan] Patrol wagon.

Our first trip, whilst only 600km long, subjected the tyres to a tremendous amount of punishment. To give you some idea, we had temperatures varying from -2 to 36 degrees [Celcius]. We had road conditions from good

bitumen to formed dirt station tracks and finally no tracks at all across some 2000 sand dunes, spinifex and gibber plains. We basically drove from Townsville to Alice Springs and then tackled the infamous Madigan Line across the northern Simpson and down the Hay River to Birdsville.

A number of the group were using imported American and Japanese big name 4WD tyres, however the only one to successfully complete the trip with no tyre failure or puncture was the Toyo M55. Our vehicle weighed approximately 3600kg and we varied pressures from 50psi on the bitumen to 35psi on formed dirt. We had no difficulty on the dunes at 24psi and at this pressure the dunes were not degraded which is an important environmental consideration.

All pressures were set early in the morning with the outside temperature around 0 degrees and the maximum increase at the end of the day's driving was 4 psi. On some days we spent 8 hours driving in low range, 2nd gear and only covered 70kms. This gives you some idea of the terrain to which we subjected the tyres. On view of the success of this particular trip I would have no hesitation in recommending these tyres to anybody. They do the job they were designed for extremely well and we are looking forward to many more kilometres travelling on our M55s".
